Timesplitters: Future Perfect

Two more levels completed now – both set in 2052 or something. Some more gaming in-jokes here too, with you picking up a lab suit and being called “Gordon” (from Half-Life), and some Doom 3 type sections too. And mutants who explode themselves at you. Nice. Oh yes! There’s a cleaning robot you activate too, not unlike the skutters from Red Dwarf, and plenty of Robocop bits. Excellent. And forget two Cortezeses, as one of the sections has four. BEST. …

Timesplitters: Future Perfect

Spent a couple of hours on this today. I completed the “pre-mission mission”, and also the first proper mission in the castle thing. It all seems much like Timesplitters 2 so far. I failed the mission with Harry Tipper, though. I don’t understand how Cortez doesn’t know who he is, even though he met him in TS2. Very odd. I died once I’d set the water running, and didn’t realise that people would then see through my disguise and try …

Halo 3

Those of you even with a vague passing interest in video games can’t have failed to notice that Halo 3 came out recently for the Xbox 360. Apparently there were queues at midnight for it and everything. Even my friends list on Xbox Live was full of Halo 3 players for the first few days. But, if you read my Gaming Diary, you’ll have noticed I’ve not played it. “But you own every game ever! Surely you bought Halo 3!” …

Serious Sam: Next Encounter (GC)

I have about ten million known good games as-yet unstarted sitting on my shelf. Things like Metroid Prime: Echoes and Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance. I even got Fahrenheit cheaply this morning. So what did I decided to pick up and play today? Well, this obviously. Graphically, it’s nothing special. Originality is out the window. The puzzles are few and simple, and there’s nothing much to recommend it. However, there’s lots to shoot and the dialogue is genuinely funny. Best …

Some Xbox 360 Demo Games (360)

So I downloaded a few more game demos today. First off, was Full Auto, which is very much like Burnout only with guns. And a Prince of Persia-style time-rewind system. It plays nice and all, but it doesn’t look much better than Burnout 3. In fact, in some ways, it’s actually worse visually. Probably not a game I’ll be buying any time soon, sorry Sega… Then I played Quake 4. I don’t mind FPS games, but they’re not my favourite …
